I had the privilege of going to Carson, CA last week as Gus Goldman’s coach in his first Reebok CrossFit Games. In the 14 months I have been coaching Gus, he has continued to impress me with his natural athletic ability. He picks everything up very quickly, works hard to master any new movement thrown his way, and is overall one of the hardest working natural athletes I’ve met.
In a field of athletes who are home schooled so they can focus on their CrossFit careers, and who have been not just doing CrossFit for a number of years, but also competing at the highest levels of the sport for multiple years, Gus didn’t only hold his own he excelled. 14 months into CrossFit, and only having one major competition (a 3rd place finish at Wodaplooza 2016) under his belt, he went in and took 6th place in the Reebok CrossFit Games. 3 of the wods included weights heavier than Gus generally does, and he faught hard and held his own. In the wods that were in his wheelhouse, he crushed them, including a second place finish in one of the wods, only coming in behind a 2 time CrossFit Games Champion.
Please join me in congradulating the 6th Fittest Teenager on Earth, Gus Goldman!
